Program Facilities

Conservation Training Labs, The Getty Villa
The Program combines the resources of the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at UCLA, and the J. Paul Getty trust. The Program is housed in the Institute's facilities in the Fowler Museum building on the UCLA main campus. The Institute provides administrative offices, classroom facilities, student lounge facilities, and library/study space for students, faculty, and administrators. Students have full access to the library facilities of both institutions.
The Getty Villa, Malibu
The Program has dedicated conservation laboratories and facilities for student and faculty use located at the Getty Villa in Malibu. This facility also includes ancillary classroom and storage space, as well as secure areas for the storage and examination of objects and materials.
The Fowler Museum, UCLA campus
Some practical classwork will require the use of ethnographic or archaeological materials. The Fowler Museum of Cultural History makes some of its collections available to the Program for instructional purposes. Collections from other area museums such as the Getty Museum, the Natural History Museum, LACMA, the Museum of the American West, and the Southwest Museum of the American Indian may also be made available.
