Jeanne Arnold Honored with Bench at TreePeople Park

UCLA professor emerita Jeanne Arnold has been honored with a memorial bench in Coldwater Canyon Park as part of TreePeople’s bench and tree dedication program. Arnold, who passed away in November, 2022, was a professor in the department of anthropology and a core faculty member of the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at UCLA. 

The bench was donated in loving memory by Delia De Sasia, her wife of 31 years. De Sasia chose TreePeople because Arnold “was interested and preoccupied about climate change, and TreePeople brings solutions to the ecosystem with cisterns, tree planting, conservation of natural resources, and education. 

“We used to hike the trails and appreciate the views” from the site, De Sasia said.  Arnold also remembered TreePeople in her trust, and De Sasia “decided to have them place a bench in her favorite place in the park.”
