From the Field: Monticello, Virginia
Justin Dunnavant, assistant professor of anthropology and core faculty member of the Cotsen Institute, who is a 2022 NEH-Digital Archaeological Archive of Comparative Slavery fellow, is shown while attending a month-long intensive artifact analysis workshop for colonial ceramics, glass, metals, and small finds, held in Monticello, Virginia. According to Dunnavant, the training will be used to upload archaeological data to an online, open-source database that will allow for cross-site comparisons of archaeological sites related to slavery.
